The Carling Cup's of Jay

So the quarter final stage of the has come around with Chelsea and Liverpool being round five's biggest casualties. The team selections seem to indicate an uncertainty of what the clubs want in this tournament, making for some less than spectacular football.

Manchester United are another side guilty of this. Ferguson was almost suggesting that his line-up was all youth and b-team but that was not the case. Park, Anderson, Nani and Tevez have all featured heavily in the first team this season and club-captain Gary Neville was also playing.

Deco, Kalou, Malouda and Drogba were all starters for Chelsea amongst a team that only gave a few youngsters a chance. Chelsea were humbled and United did not set the competition alight.

And so we turn to Arsenal. Arsene Wenger's youthful side claim adulation from every media institution after every win in this competition. Over the years Wenger has almost drained out all first team involvement until the semi-final stage, at which point he seems to attempt to amalgamate his squad together. Then they tend to go out.

Any team capable of beating Wigan 3-0 added to the fact that Steve Bruce said, "They created more chances against us than anyone this season," is surely worth sticking with. Neutrals have been thrilled by watching Ramsey, Vela, Merida and Jack Wilshire take apart teams which have competed in the Premier League. Wigan were at full strength, minus Heskey, and will surely have been shocked by the quality of Arsenal.

A plead the, if you like, to Arsene. If your side do get to the semi-final's please do not change the team around. If this side could win the cup it would be a great day for, Arsenal, youth, technical ability and therefore football in general.
