With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Emile Heskey has admitted that he would consider a move back to Liverpool. Using surprisingly nuanced language the Big Man announced that, “A move to Liverpool would be lovely.”
Would it really? No one is ever satisfied with their lot, but at Wigan Heskey has cemented a place as England’s number 9, and earned plaudits where in the past there were only detractors.
A move back to Liverpool is surely an invitation to warm the bench and be drafted in, Crouch-esque, as a show pony to break down more physical teams.
Even on Liverpool’s part the move seems a strange one. You’d have thought, in Dirk Kuyt, one burly, hardworking, goal-shy striker would be enough.
