N’Gotty Joins Hereford

Former AC Milan defender Bruno N’Gotty has joined League 1 strugglers Hereford United on a one-month loan from Leicester City.

The 37 year-old has been brought in to shore up a Bulls defense that has conceded 14 goals this season, seeing the club rooted to the foot of the table.

There’s a certain sadness in a former foreign star eeking out the dying days of his playing career as lower league journeyman.

N’Gotty plied his trade for Lyon, PSG, Marseille and Milan, before joining Bolton. He made his France debut alonside Zinedine Zidane and Lillian Thuram in 1994, with the three heralded as the future of French football.

France did have a bright future, but N’Gotty wasn’t part of it. Zidane and Thuram went on to lead France to a World Cup and a European Championship, before retiring at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. On Saturday, N’gotty will be trotting out at Edgar Street to face Walsall on his home debut.
